I used to do market research in study groups for a market research company just up the road from me. Because it was within working distance of my house it was not too much effort to go and participate in surveys for an hour or so, it was fun and the money was pretty good, plus I got to see many products before they even hit the shelf. Somehow the feeling of knowing that I was having a small but significant impact on different products made it all that little bit more worthwhile. Plus when the items did finally hit the self or ads hit the TV I could boast about how I had already seen it and that it was old news.
Eventually like I think most market research companies went online and they closed the physical side of the business. I was lucky enough to get the website address of the company and sign up and start doing paid online market research. The only issue was that with only one company the amount of work that they sent me was very little so I branched out to find some other places just the same to diversify the my chances of getting work. Sure enough I came across online surveys Australia, after signing up to almost all of the companies they listed my inbox in the coming weeks was full of more work than I could handle. I now do a lot of paid online market research and I no longer even need to walk up the road. It is very convenient. I would suggest that people who have done on house market research in the past look into doing it online as I am sure if you get in with some good companies you will make the transition as effortlessly as I have.
